COMMUNITIES OF PRACTICE: HOW DO YOU GIVE DATA A MONETARY VALUE?

Many people have made the comparison of data to be the “New Oil” as a commodity. There are some parallels but it’s not as simple as that as it is the data that is the commodity ,or the processing that is applied to it? AI use cases, where assets are generated from data that you do not own further complicates this issue.

In a presentation followed by a roundtable discussion, Kurt Roosen, Head of Innovation for Digital Isle of Man will go through the ins and outs of “Data as an Asset” and subsequent valuation, with reference to the forthcoming proposed Isle of Man Data Foundation legislation.
