Following the success of the Isle of Man Government’s cyber security conference CYBERISLE last October, the Isle of Man Government is hosting a virtual conference - Virtual CYBERISLE 2020.
This free event, organised by the Office of Cyber Security and Information Assurance (OCSIA), will run throughout October in collaboration with local industry and off-Island speakers. There will be short webinars each day on a variety of subjects related to cyber security and safety. The month will conclude with a panel discussion that members of the public can submit questions to via Slido using #CYBERISLE2020.
Virtual CYBERISLE 2020 aims to raise awareness of the steps that can be taken at home, at work and within the community to combat cyber security threats, with practical tools and insights.
Minister for Home Affairs, Graham Cregeen MHK, encouraged members of the public to take a look at what is on offer over the coming month.
'As part of the National Cyber Security Strategy published in May 2018, the Isle of Man Government committed to bring the public more cyber related events and activities.
'This free event will provide the public, businesses and organisations with practical and useful insight, advice and guidance. From parents wanting to know more about keeping their children safe online to businesses interested in the mitigation of cyber-attacks.
‘The Isle of Man Government is continuously updating its approach to policing in an era of rapid digital advancement. Our police officers are working in collaboration with OCSIA to fight cyber-crime, and along with wider government and local industry is raising awareness to keep the Isle of Man community safe in a digital world.'
CYBERISLE will launch across the Isle of Man Government’s social media channels on Monday 28 September with an opening address by the Chief Minister.
Speakers will include cyber security experts and professionals from across the public and private sectors.
More information on the event’s speakers and the agenda will be released soon.
Anyone who has concerns about cyber security or wants to report fraudulent activity can use the reporting tool at www.gov.im/ocsia.
