27 November 2025

The 2026 Innovation Challenge will unite global innovators and local health partners to reshape healthcare in the Isle of Man, accelerating digital transformation, driving collaboration, and showcasing emerging technologies that improve patient outcomes and strengthen Health & Social Care.

Announced at Digital Isle 2025, global innovators are invited to enter the Isle of Man’s fourth edition of the Innovation Challenge, an annual initiative which this year seeks transformative solutions in Health and Social Care Innovation.

Applications officially opened today for the 2026 cohort, welcoming businesses and entrepreneurs worldwide to present groundbreaking technologies that address real system needs and support the Island’s ambition for technology-driven healthcare progress.

Led by Digital Isle of Man and the Department for Enterprise, this year’s Challenge is delivered in partnership with the Department of Health and Social Care, Manx Care, and Public Health Isle of Man

Together, these partners provide innovators with a uniquely collaborative environment, enabling direct engagement with government bodies, regulators, clinicians, and care providers.

Participants will gain access to the Island’s dynamic tech ecosystem and its unique status as the first entire nation UNESCO Biosphere, providing valuable opportunities to pilot, validate, and scale solutions that deliver a tangible and positive impact for both the Island and the innovators involved.

Applications are open until 27th February 2026, with entries focused across three key themes:

  • Working Smarter: Reimagining how healthcare engages, connects, and delivers at every level.
  • Wellness: Empowering people and communities to stay well, live well, and age well.
  • Home First: Delivering high-quality care beyond traditional settings, closer to where people live and thrive.

Across these themes, innovators are invited to explore transformative solutions that improve patient outcomes, enhance service efficiency, and support frontline professionals through technology, data, and collaboration.

Since its inception, the Innovation Challenge has attracted over 130 businesses from more than 20 countries, with past winners delivering trailblazing solutions across FinTech, Cleantech, and Data & AI.

The 2026 edition builds on this proven model with a strong new focus on health innovation.

Tim Johnston MHK, Minister for Enterprise, said:

‘This is the fourth year that the Executive Agencies have delivered the Innovation Challenge, each time addressing real issues facing local businesses and our community, and attracting innovative solutions from around the world to support the Island’s development.

‘I am pleased to see this year’s focus on healthcare, and I believe it provides a valuable opportunity for the Isle of Man to leverage global expertise and innovation to improve patient experience, increase efficiency, and strengthen workforce capacity. I look forward to welcoming innovators from across the globe as we work together to explore meaningful solutions that will benefit our community and economy.’

By bringing together government, healthcare providers, and global technology leaders, we are creating an environment where transformative ideas can thrive. This Challenge is about delivering real benefits for users, improving outcomes, enhancing experiences, and ensuring our system is fit for the future.

‘Working collaboratively with Digital Isle of Man, Manx Care, and Public Health gives technology companies a unique opportunity to work directly with clinicians and service teams on solutions rooted in real need and real-world application.’

Teresa Cope, Chief Executive of Manx Care, said:

‘Innovation is essential to strengthening how we deliver care across the Isle of Man. The Innovation Challenge gives Manx Care the opportunity to discover new ideas and technologies that can make a real, measurable difference to the lives of our service users and the staff who support them.

‘By working with international innovators and our Government partners, and testing solutions in real-world settings, we can accelerate improvements that streamline pathways, enhance experience, and help us deliver safe, sustainable, and compassionate care for our community.’

2026 Challenge Finalists will be announced in April 2026, based on the ambition, market potential and scalability of their solution. Over the following months, the cohort will work to further develop their solutions to meet the Island’s pressing needs, before presenting them at the Innovation Challenge Finale Day on 25th June 2026

In addition to gaining local and international visibility, winners of the 2026 Innovation Challenge will receive extended access to a dynamic network of mentors, potential investors, and regulatory guidance for six months, enabling them to further develop their solutions.
