ISLE OF MAN CODE CLUB

Tech Team of the Year supported by Ed Space

Isle of Man Code Club launched the Island’s first Annual Robotics Competition in 2025, inspiring students aged 11–15 to dive into STEM through hands-on engineering and autonomous robot challenges. Built entirely by volunteers—from teachers and engineers to parents and tech professionals—the initiative uses LEGO SPIKE Prime to give young people an accessible, creativity-driven path into robotics. With support from a Junior Volunteer Programme and a strongly collaborative community, the competition strengthens the Code Club’s role as the Island’s leader in inclusive, technology-focused education, turning curiosity into real technical confidence.

Community Impact Champion supported by Love Tech Isle of Man

Tandem is an early-learning platform that helps parents and children co-create short, developmentally informed stories. Tandem launched a community initiative with Isle of Man libraries, giving families free access to high-quality literacy support, with Douglas City Library as the first partner and Island-wide expansion underway. Tandem is also developing programmes with the Isle of Man Prison Service to help parents maintain meaningful bonds with their children through shared story-making. Guided by clinical collaborations with Alder Hey and Moorfields hospitals, Tandem’s work uses evidence-led, accessible design to strengthen early language, confidence and connection across diverse families.

Through two years of Activate AI sessions, he’s built a welcoming, jargon-free environment where curiosity drives learning and hands-on problem-solving replaces traditional lecturing. As leader of the AI Community of Practice, Chris has created a supportive space that empowers beginners and experienced users alike to experiment, collaborate and build confidence. His approach has helped participants create their first working AI tools, share public case studies, and introduce AI education within their own organisations. By championing inclusivity and lowering barriers to entry, Chris has become a key force in growing the Island’s tech capability and widening participation in AI.

DAGAN HARRIS & JAYDEN THOMPSON

Student Technologist of the Year sponsored by Premier Gateway International

Jayden Thompson and Dagan Harris are standout young technologists whose work blends exceptional technical skill with meaningful community impact. They’ve rebuilt an early-1980s game in assembly language—an advanced achievement rarely seen at student level—and created a free, open-source mobile app that fixes long-standing issues with the Isle of Man bus timetable, delivering a practical tool for the entire community. Now working with Isle of Man Transport to enhance the app while keeping it open and accessible, they demonstrate maturity, professionalism and a strong commitment to public good. Predicted Triple Star Distinction graduates in 2026, both plan to study Computer Science at Lancaster University and pursue careers in assistive technologies.
