As we seek expressions of interest for new Digital Isle of Man Board Members, we asked our recently appointed Chair, Phil Adcock, a series of quick fire questions on what it means to be a board member and who we're looking for.
Why join the Executive Board for Digital Isle of Man?
It provides a unique opportunity to shape and contribute to the Island's digital strategy.
How much time goes into being a Board Member?
Around one afternoon a month, although there are plenty of opportunities to contribute more if you’re passionate about a particular subject!
What are the current areas of focus for the Digital Agency?
A reinvigoration and progression of the Island's eGaming sector, and the continued development of our esports, Internet of Things and blockchain propositions. Digital skills are incredibly important and will be a key focus for the agency going forward.
What are some future ventures the Agency is exploring?
Software and software services, Fintech, LZC (low and zero carbon technology), innovation around data, data sciences, AI and machine learning. We’re always open to new ideas and we actively encourage this through our board members.
What are you looking for in new Board Members?
A passion for technology and innovation is a must, as well as someone who is a great communicator, with enthusiasm to act as a Digital Ambassador and engage with industry.
I encourage creative and strategic thinking and a willingness to challenge and question. Previous board experience and, of course, time.
Who should apply to be a Board Member?
Applications are open anyone with experience in the digital sector with the energy and enthusiasm to help shape and grow our digital economy. I’m looking to build a diverse board that is representative of the digital sector. Some previous board experience would be helpful.
What does being a Digital Isle of Man board member mean to you?
It provides opportunity to give something back to the Island and make sure that there are plenty of opportunities for future generations in the digital space.
