Love Tech to host some sizzling education sessions this summer and beyond

Over the next few months, Love Tech will be hosting two incredible of STEM events for children and a training programme for Mums, to encourage more people to explore careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

In partnership with Manx Wildlife Trust, the charity will be hosting a Fossil Hunting event at Scarlett Visitor Centre on 31 July between 14:00 and 16:00. This session will feature a fascinating fossil hunt and science-themed talk at the Scarlett Visitor Centre, offering outstanding views of coastal Castletown including spectacular limestone and volcanic rock-formations, as well as beautiful Manx wildlife.

Closing out the summer in style is Love Tech’s Summer Tech Fest for young people between the ages of 11 and 18. This event will take place at Manx Telecom Headquarters in the Isle of Man Business Park on 20 August between 09:30 and 12:30 with an aim to help young people learn more about jobs in tech and immerse attendees in tech-focused activities first-hand. Various local tech related companies and organizations be hosting stands at the event, with a panel of ‘techperts’ talking about their jobs and what it takes to pursue a career in tech, plus many exciting activities, including a QR code themed challenge, allowing young attendees to show off their skills and be in with a chance of winning an Oculus Quest II VR Headset worth £300.

Whilst tickets for both of these events are FREE, each person attending will need to book a ticket (adults and children) via Eventbrite.

Finally, Love Tech is excited to launch their inaugural #techmums training course, an 8-week training programme starting on 22 September and running until 10 November which will cover a range of useful topics to equip mums with the digital skills they need for 2021 and beyond. This practical and in-depth, in-person and online training will consist of weekly sessions each Wednesday evening and is designed to support mothers in becoming more familiar, confident, and excited about the use of technology in their personal, professional, and parenting lives.
